I never write reviews. Ever. But this time…I HAD TO.
My gelding is a QH with just enough TB thrown in for a bit of spice. He’s smart, a goofball, and seems to love to learn new things.
When I bought him, he’d been started under saddle but was mostly a blank slate; exactly what I wanted. What I figured out though, is that he wasn’t taught properly about the bit. He didn’t understand that it wasn’t a torture device, but a way for me to communicate with him. He is constantly chewing, grabbing, grinding his molars, making faces, head up and down, banging it around in his mouth.
I’ve found a few things over the last year that work well for him, and have made a positive difference. I took him out of a traditional bridle and put him in a Micklem. I tried about ten bits before I found one he was the least mad about. I tried every calming supplement I could find; some helped a little, some did nothing. None of them did enough to keep spending the money. He’s seen vets and the chiropractor, saddle fitter, and I may have considered Voo-Doo at one point.
I had pretty much decided that this was how he was going to be: a horse that can’t focus on his rider because he has such a bad relationship with the bit. Sigh.
Then, in December, I was live streaming the National Finals Rodeo (I love both English and Western, but prefer to ride English). The Equinety commercials and advertisements were EVERYWHERE. Big-name competitors were endorsing the product…which usually doesn’t sway me one way or the other, but it stayed in the back of my mind.
The new year (2026) has some big goals for me and my horse, and I was worried that my horse was never going to be truly relaxed in the bridle and happy in the work. His groundwork is amazing, and he’s normally a really happy guy. I just wanted him to LIKE being with me, whether in an arena or out on a trail.
I started thinking about Equinety, and decided to look at the website to see what it actually was…and why people seemed to be so happy with it.
Right there in the description: less nervous/anxious horse, more focused horse, and helps with thin soles (another issue he has).
Well….one small container wasn’t too much money, so I thought I’d give it a whirl. It arrived, and he started it the next day.
FOUR DAYS. That’s how long it was between starting the supplement and my first ride with it on board. He was quiet. Calm. Focused. Who is this horse, and what did they do with my angry, molar-grinding boy? 😳
The next day was a lesson with my trainer. I didn't say anything to her, just in case the day before was a fluke.
Nope. Not a fluke. Day 5 was the best lesson; a happy horse who was swinging his tail, a horse that was calm and relaxed. Honestly, it was the most enjoyable ride I’ve had on him in over a year. I almost cried. My mind is blown.
My trainer has a spicy TB mare that’s nervous all the time; she’s getting Equinety to try. My best friend has a 14 year old OTTB that’s always been opinionated and sometimes a downright jerk; she just ordered some to try with him. I can only hope that they see the same level of success I have.
I can’t explain how it works. I can’t explain why it works. I just know IT DOES. For the first time since I’ve owned him…I look forward to riding him. No more arguments. No more yanking me out of the saddle. No more metal clanking against teeth. Just pure, beautiful silence and a horse that actually likes what he’s doing for the first time in his life. And if he’s happy, I’m happy. ♥️
My senior border collie (she’s about 13 yrs old now) started to go down hill summer 2024 very quickly, she was trembling and falling down in her back end. We thought she was having a stroke at one point. I gave her about a tsp a day of Equinety powder and I cannot praise it enough. she is now following us around again on 2-3 mile rides in the mountains again. Not only do I see a huge improvement in my horses but I cannot believe how much it helped my dog as well! I am so glad that I gave this a chance after the BFI last year. We have all our rodeo horses on it and will never not have a horse on it now.
I am very impressed with this product. I got told about it after my young mare had a mild bout of laminitis. In less than a month, you can actually see the difference in her sole depth. I have in turn, put a few other friends on this product as well!!! No shoe initially after laminitis/shoe less than a month later!!
Not sure how many times we have thought this horse is done. But nope, not yet! We struggle keeping him sound and he has very sensitive feet. Exactly one month ago we stared feeding him Equinety XL & the Ultimate OEC oil 2xs a day! And let me tell you! He is feeling and moving better than he has in years! I have one happy husband on my hands! Thank you John Dowdy for helping our horses feel their best! Both my heel horses get it as well. They look and feel amazing!! I started using Equinety after my horse was injured. My vet said she would need up to a year off to heal her tendon. I fed her the Equinety 2xs a day ,while getting an ultrasound every other week.
